Three Quick Warm-ups.
Can't ride before you ride? Then do this.

We don't have to tell you that you ride better when you warm up first, especially in a race when it's full throttle from the start line. But in real life, oversleeping, traffic jams, long waits at the start line and general snafus can keep you from getting in some ride time before the gun. What should you do?
Try these instant energizers to get your blood flowing. They aren't as good as getting on a bike, but they're the next best thing if you're in a pinch.
Hit the showers. When you warm up, you raise your body temperature so you can exchange oxygen in your muscles and fire nerve signals more quickly. You can simulate this with a hot shower. This is especially useful during 24-hour races if you're in a bunkhouse or condo, since you'll be so sick of riding, you won't want to warm up on your bike anyway.
Jump around. Jumping jacks, push ups, squat thrusts or any combination of army-style calisthenics will get your blood pumping and warm up your muscles while you're waiting to race. Sure, you'll look like a big whack, but you might scare the competition.
Rub 'em out. Starting oils like Sixtufit contain circulation-stimulating ingredients like rosemary and menthol. Massaging them into your legs before you step to the line can give you that race-ready feeling.
